We are delighted to announce the success of the🏆 VIII GMP World Amateur Championship in Dubai 2023! GolfMatchPlay participants from all over the world gathered together at @Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai to enjoy the majestic view of Dubai skylines and compete for a chance to be crowned as GolfMatchPlay Champion 2022.

During this year's VIII World Amateur Championship in Dubai, 32 players from seven different countries participated. For a chance to be crowned GolfMatchPlay Champion 2022, golfers from India, Latvia, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Greece, and UAE will compete against one another.

The official launch of the VIII World Amateur Championship in Dubai 2023 began on the with the Welcome Breakfast event in Monty’s Terrassa. The breakfast started with a warm welcome speech by Mr. Claes Settergrem, wishing all the participants good luck for the tournament! 

After that, the random lottery followed, choosing the match play pars for Dubai 2023 to kick off the VIII GMP World Amateur Championship. To enhance an even more competitive atmosphere for all participants, the longest drive, closest to the pin, and a hole-in-one prize of $1000 Wild Card were added to contain the exciting game.

On Wednesday, 18th of January 2023, GolfMatchPlay organized an optional event for all participants and their families & friends to enjoy great Dubai weather and create unforgettable memories on the Boat Party with drinks, great food and dancing vibes with the DJ onboard. The highlights of the Boat Party were flashy water activities, such as jet skis, flying doughnuts, and a famous flying board. Participants had a chance to relax after intensive 2 days of golf and appreciate the best weather in Dubai.

On 19th of January 2023, while players were still playing in round 3 of the Annual Championship, the rest of the players joined TRIVENI LIALI GolfMatchPlay GOLF DAY in @Els Golf Club. TRIVENI LIALI GolfMatchPlay GOLF DAY was a wonderful day filled with excitement and competition as 16 exciting matches were played between international and local players. The event concluded with a Gala dinner.

The final game of the VIII GMP World Amateur Championship began on 21st January 2023 and there was a lot of excitement in the air. The two players, Erik Zackrisson Reise from Sweden and Sidney De Souza from UAE, were both very competitive and had been playing well throughout the tournament.

On the 12th hole, Erik Zackrisson Reise managed to take over the game and became the winner of the VIII GMP World Amateur Championship. It was a hard-fought match and both players played exceptionally well. In the end, it was Erik’s superior skills that prevailed and he can now add this prestigious title to his already impressive list of accomplishments.

The Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony was hosted with style at the grand Montgomerie Golf Course venue, affording breathtaking views of the 9th and 18th holes. Guests were welcomed with a welcome drink and an inviting photo shoot, followed by interviews with the GolfMatchPlay participant's representatives. 

As the official part of the Gala Dinner has begun, the CEO and Founder of GolfMatchPlay, Claes Settergren, expressed the company's ambitions to grow globally. After that Gala Dinner guests were captivated by a magician - Helios and his illusion tricks. 

As a great tradition during Award Ceremony, we were awarded the Best GolfMatchPlay Ambassador 2022. Two individuals received trophies for their outstanding contributions to the growth of GolfMatchPlay in 2022 - Mr. Svante Forsbäck from Finland and Mr. Ashok Galgotia from UAE, who were both well-deserved recipients of this prestigious award. 

The winners of the extra competition during the Annual Championship was Andris Ornins, who won the nearest-to-the-pin contest. Sidney De Souza won the longest drive award for the men, while Alise Burkane won the longest drive award for the women! We can't thank all our amazing golfers enough for participating in the tournament! 🏌️‍♂️ It was great to see everyone out on the course, enjoying the game and having a blast.
